1964 Mercedes-Benz 220b W111
This 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220b is a running and driving example of the iconic W111 “Heckflosse” sedan. It came to us as a trade-in from Spain, where it was registered until recently. The car presents well at first glance, with shiny paintwork and a partially refurbished interior, making it an appealing base for further improvement or stylish weekend use.
Technically, the car is in good running order. It starts easily, drives and brakes as it should, and features a 2.2L inline-six engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. Although originally equipped with a single carburettor setup, this car now runs on twin carburettors— an often-used upgrade. The carburettors have been completely rebuilt under previous ownership.
The exterior finish looks attractive in photos and in person, with good shine throughout. Upon closer inspection, however, the underside reveals previous repairs to the sills and jack points that were carried out below professional standards. These areas are visually unobtrusive but structurally weak, and should be properly addressed if the car is to be restored or used intensively. Furthermore, the lower door skins show signs of bondo, with the first cracks already appearing in the paint finish.
A presentable W111 Mercedes, technically sound, but with honest imperfections.
The Mercedes 220b has Spanish registration documents. The roadworthiness inspection was valid until 08/2025. Sold on a commercial invoice by Dandy Classics, ready for registration in most European countries.
