This 1998 Jaguar XK8 convertible comes from its first and only owner in North Carolina. It has a verified mileage, no accident history and offers a solid foundation for light cosmetic improvement.
The body is straight and solid. It still wears its original British Racing Green paint, which retains a nice shine but shows age-appropriate wear and minor touch-ups. The right front fender and passenger door were repainted in the past. According to the VIN report there is no damage history, and the mileage has increased logically over time. The car currently shows 102.321 miles. The automatic convertible top mechanism works well, while the soft top itself shows typical wear on both the inside and outside after nearly three decades. All Jaguar emblems on the body and wheels have been removed and are missing.
Mechanically, the XK8 appears to be in healthy condition. It starts, runs and drives well, and seems to have been serviced regularly; a service station window sticker and three invoices are present. There are a few minor points of attention. The plastic engine covers are missing. The automatic transmission oil pan gasket has a small leak. Although the brakes work well, they produce a slight friction-like sound while driving. A “stability control fail” and ABS warning appears on the dashboard, which likely points to a faulty ABS wheel sensor. This is also mentioned on the last Jaguar dealer invoice, where two sensors were swapped and reset. The car is fitted with Michelin tyres that have good tread, and the wheels would benefit from a proper cleaning or repaint at the next tyre change.
The interior is finished in beige (SDZ Kashmere) and, after almost 30 years, shows expected wear. The steering wheel, driver’s door panel, driver’s seat and centre console cupholder exhibit visible use, along with a few smaller areas. No manuals are included. The car comes with two keys, one of which has a remote control for the alarm system.
A charming detail: the original owner clearly used this Jaguar to go to the golf course. The boot still contains golf balls, hats and other memorabilia, offering a glimpse into the car’s past life.
This XK8 convertible is an attractive opportunity to acquire a genuine, original example at an affordable price. A nice driver, with mostly light cosmetic and detail work left to improve. A stylish V8 convertible ready for an enthusiast who appreciates honesty, character and potential.
