1956 Ac Aceca 2.6 litre

Supplied by Johnson & Brown of Kent to its first owner Mr F G Beale, this car, chassis number: AE 548, started life with an AC 2 litre engine and was finished in Black Pearl with red interior according to AC Club records.

Some years ago, she was fitted with a 2.6 Ford Zephyr engine with a Raymond Mays 12 port alloy cylinder head with triple SU carburettors, making the car effectively a copy of the Ruddspeed specification.

Clearly she has been maintained as a ‘driver’s car’ and used extensively for a number of Continental tours by the current owner who has had the car in his care for the past eighteen years. She is sitting on period-correct Michelin X tyres and has the original specification Lucas ‘PL’ headlamps. A five speed gearbox has been installed making for effortless highspeed cruising.

She retains her original distinctive Kent registration number WKO 777, and presents very well overall, there are, however, a few minor paint imperfections evident but nothing that appears in need of immediate remedial work.

The AC Aceca was produced alongside its open two-seater sibling - The Ace - from 1954-1963.

In total there were 151 Aceca built powered by the AC 2 litre engine, 169 Aceca-Bristols and just 8 powered by the 2.6 litre Ford Zephyr unit.

Hand built in the traditional manner with ash framing and steel tubing, clad with aluminium bodywork, the Aceca was one of just two grand tourers to feature a hatchback when introduced, the other being the Aston Martin DB2/4.

She retains all her original tools.

Rarely available, these beautiful early GT Coupes are justifiably revered today.
