Launched in 2018, the Ferrari Icona Series offered some limited-production vehicles, which fused F1 advanced engineering with design influences from Ferrari's back catalogue of their most historic and exotic racing cars. These were only offered to Ferrari's most valuable clients and are seldom publicly offered for sale.

The Icona Series debuted with the Monza SP1 and SP2 influenced by traditional opend 1950's barchetta designs similar to the 166 MM and 750 Monza. The much anticipated SP3 model was the third addition to the Icona series and the SP3 Daytona was inspired by the marque’s legendary endurance Sport Prototypes of the 1960s, most obviously, the 330 P3/4. These historic racecars were dominant in period and achieved the fabled 1-2-3 success at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona.

The heart of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 is a naturally aspirated mid-mounted 6.5-liter V-12 producing a massive 829 horsepower without the any hybrid assistance. This was the most powerful Ferrari internal combustion engine ever built by Ferrari producing 829 horsepower at a towering 9250 rpm - resulting in 128 bhp/litre. Coupled to a quick shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission performance was dramatic with 0–100 km/h covered in just 2.85 seconds, while 0–200 km/h arrives in 7.4 seconds.

Aerodynamically the SP3 benefited from aerodynamic lessons learned from Ferrari racing programs with a focus on maximizing efficiency through passive solutions, avoiding the need for active aero devices. Features such as "chimneys" that extract low-pressure air from the underbody made the SP3 the most aerodynamically efficient Ferrari ever built when the car was launched.

A sold out collector car on launch - today the SP3 is recognised as one of Ferrari's greatest ever road models produced.
