1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
This 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was imported and registered in Belgium in the year 2000. Its last technical inspection also dates back to the same year, so the car has probably remained in storage since then. The Mustang was recently brought back to life, with a new fuel tank, a new fuel pump and an external ignition wire. Now offered as a project car for restoration, it is waiting to be transformed to its former glory.
Having left the factory in bright silver blue metallic, it is now covered in primer, with some accents painted grabber blue. Rust damage is visible around the rear wheel arches, lower rear fenders, lower door panels and a corner of the trunk lid. The bonnet shows thick layers of body filler, but the car comes with a brand new correct Mach 1 hood. Floor pans are solid. The body will require a complete strip-down and bare metal restoration at this point.
This Mustang is powered by a correct and original 351 Cleveland V8 (M-code 4V), linked to an automatic transmission. The engine runs pretty nicely, but should be taken out for at least a thorough mechanical check up, service and detailing job. Recently, the car received a few new parts: fuel tank, fuel pump, 4 tyres and the alternator. It is driveable, but definitely not roadworthy and has not been in regular use for at least 20 years.
The interior is partially disassembled and needs to be completely renovated. The car comes with a period original radio, seats in different colours and most of the interior parts. Missing parts are the carpets, door cards, headlining and spare wheel. The odometer currently indicates a total of 75.153 mls.
An exciting opportunity for practical enthusiasts: an honest project car and an affordable entry ticket into badass classic Mustang territory.
